Caregiving and care receiving can be stressful for all involved. Sometimes you must do something just for fun or the amount of decision-making can get overwhelming. My mom, sister and I have started doing a little craft every other month. It is a great time for us to bond and enjoy each other’s company without the stress of making any decisions.
For Easter, we made these Resurrection Gardens with a few inexpensive flowers, a tiny flowerpot turned on its side for the tomb, and a few stones to make a path. The crosses were purchased but you could easily secure together a few popsicle sticks or twigs from the yard. My mom loved planting the little flowers and arranging the rocks for the path.
This idea could easily be made into a Mother’s Day craft by making a fairy garden instead of a Resurrection Garden. Be creative and think about the interests of the person you are helping. Look online for ideas and crafts for different skill levels. No matter what you decide on, the activity will be a welcome distraction for all of you.
